7-hydroxymitragynine (7OH) is a naturally occurring compound found in kratom leaves. It forms when the body processes mitragynine (MIT), the primary alkaloid in kratom. This transformation happens through natural metabolic processes in the liver, specifically through enzymes called cytochrome P450 3A.

In its natural state, 7-hydroxy appears in very small quantities within the plant. The compound has gained attention in scientific research due to its unique properties and relationship with MIT.

7-Hydroxy and MIT

  • MIT comprises approximately two-thirds of kratom's total alkaloid content
  • 7-hydroxy, while present in smaller amounts, demonstrates different properties than MIT
  • The body's natural processes convert some MIT into 7-OH during metabolism
  • The transformation occurs primarily in the liver through specific enzymatic pathways
  • Commercial Products and 7-hydroxymitragynine Testing

Various commercial products, including 7OH tablets, are available in regions where permitted. When choosing products, consider these important factors:

    • Look for products with comprehensive third-party laboratory testing
    • Verify that products include a Certificate of Analysis (CoA)
    • Check product labeling for detailed alkaloid content information
    • Research manufacturer reputation and testing protocols
    • Verify compliance with local regulations and standards

Our 7OH & MIT Quality Assurance

When evaluating products containing MIT and 7-hydroxy, several quality factors deserve attention:

    • Laboratory testing should verify both presence and concentration of compounds in not only our 7OH Powder but all of our products!
    • Testing should screen for potential contaminants
    • Manufacturing processes should follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
    • Documentation should be transparent and readily available

    Kratom + 7-hydroxymitragynine R&D

Scientific understanding of MIT and 7-hydroxy continues to evolve. Current areas of research include:

    • Molecular mechanisms of action
    • Metabolism and bioavailability studies
    • Development of analytical testing methods
    • Investigation of traditional uses and practices

Understanding the relationship between MIT and 7-hydroxy continues to be an active area of scientific research. The field evolves as new studies provide additional insights into these compounds. As with any botanical product, it's important to stay informed on 7OHabout current research, regulations, and best practices for quality assurance.
